Closed-Die Forging
Closed-die forging is a mode to compression deformation the raw metal in a forging die which has a certain shape to obtain the desired forging piece. We proceed the deformation with processing temperature higher than recrystallization temperature of metal, that is, the hot forging. The original state of raw material can be bar, ingot or plate, etc. Ratio of the cross-sectional area of the metal before deformation to the area of the die after deformation is called the forging ratio. Proper selection of forging ratios has much influence to improving product quality and reducing costs.
