Types of Springs:

Wave Spring
Operate with a compression load but in reduced operation height; wavy, coiled flat wire; pressed by load, used in applications require tight load deflection and critical space, in spring styles of single- turn, nested or multi-tern.
Compression Spring
Operate with a compressive load; open coil helical spring, pressed or squeezed by load; resists compressive or push forces, have the most energy when they are compressed.
Extension Spring
Also called tension spring; operate with a tensile load; coiled, may have hooks or loops on either end to attach to other objects; apply in pull force results in extension of the spring; have the most energy when they are extended.
Torsion Spring
Operate with torque, or twisting force; helical spring, coil, hold and release angular energy; twisted to store potential energy; have either clockwise or antilock wise rotation.
Constant Force Spring
Also called spiral or clock spring; load remains the same throughout the deflection cycle; coiled ribbon spring steel; release a constant amount of force; a number of times band of steel wrapped around it to form this type of springs; used in heavy duty applications.
